Intuition is the new standard

Most apps today fail at something fundamental: being intuitive. And it’s frustrating because, honestly, no one wants to spend weeks trying to figure out how new software works. We’re surrounded by technology that is supposed to make our lives easier, but often it feels like it’s just adding more complications.

The problem is that many products prioritize quantity over quality, functionality over usability. As if adding more buttons and features is always the answer. But it’s not. People aren’t looking for the most complex software or the one with the most features; they’re looking for a solution to their problems—something that works well from the start, without the need for a tutorial or manual.

Designing something intuitive isn’t easier, but it’s more valuable. It’s the harder path, one that requires truly understanding the user, stepping into their shoes, and prioritizing their experience above everything else. It’s not about showing off features but about removing the barriers that prevent people from achieving what they need.

Technology should adapt to us, not the other way around. And as designers, I believe we have the responsibility to make sure that happens.
