Why product discovery is make or break for your idea

Team collaboration in product discovery

The product discovery stage? Probably one of the most important. This is where we need to make sure we’re not wasting time or resources on an idea that won’t work. We need to quickly separate the good ideas from the bad ones. Having a great idea isn’t enough; we need to see if people actually want it, if it’s easy to use, if engineers can build it, and if investors will care.

This is where collaboration between product management, UX design, and engineering really matters. The product manager has to make sure the idea has market potential. UX needs to ensure the product is simple to use and engineers need to tell us if it’s technically feasible. If something doesn’t align, we’re in trouble.

At this point, it’s all about validating the product’s viability. We need to know if it can be sold, if it’s usable, if it’s buildable, and if investors will back it. If we’re not working together, it’s easy for us to miss a key detail that could cause the product to fall short.
