How to start a blog without having a f*** clue

Are you reading this and thinking, “Damn, I’d love to start a blog, but I have no idea where to begin”? Let me tell you something: I had no freaking idea when I started writing this either. And here I am, typing away like I actually know what I’m doing.

I’m far from being an expert in writing. In fact, if you saw my drafts, you’d think they were a complete mess—a jumble of ideas thrown together like a monkey at a typewriter. But you know what? It doesn’t matter. The important thing is to communicate. The key is to take what’s in your head and put it into words, even if those words aren’t perfect or in the right order.

So here I am, sitting down and writing this article simply because inspiration hit me. And when I say inspiration, don’t imagine anything poetic or profound. I just thought, “Why don’t I try to explain how I started writing?” And here we are: you reading, and me typing, with no bigger intention than that.

I’ll let you in on a little secret: ChatGPT, that virtual friend I didn’t know I needed, has been helping me organize this mess of words. I throw my texts full of mistakes and weird phrases at it, and it helps make them look nicer and, most importantly, clearer, especially because English is not my first language. But in the end, what truly matters is the essence of what you want to say. If you have something to share, don’t worry too much about whether it’s written well or not. The important thing is that you say it, that you get it out there, and share it.

Writing a blog isn’t a test, and you don’t need to get straight A’s. It’s more like having a conversation with a friend—except instead of speaking, you’re writing. So forget the embarrassment, the insecurity, and the fear of being judged. We all start from zero. If I can sit here rambling on like this, you can definitely do it too.

So go ahead, grab your laptop, a notebook, or whatever you prefer, and start writing. It doesn’t matter if what you come up with isn’t perfect at first. The important thing is that you begin. Over time, you’ll get better and find your style. But the first step is to just get started. And above all, share what you write. Don’t keep those crazy ideas to yourself, because someone out there is bound to find them interesting.

If you were waiting for a sign, this is it.
